Hemsila - just the name gives sportsfishers
visions of intense swarms of mayflies and close-
combat struggles with wild and eager brown trout in the
crystal-clear river. The fish are
generally from 300-1300 grams, but trout up to 2 kg are not
unusual. Tor Grøthe will be your
guide during your stay - he is the Nordic champion and twice
Norwegian champion in fly
fishing. Tor has also been given the village development award for
his work in the promotion
of Hemsila. He and his family are your hosts on Grøthe Gård. Here
you will stay in a
modernly equipped house which is rich in traditions.
Many years of effort, combined with the right cultivation and
management measures have
ensured that Hemsila today is one of the finest trout rivers in
Norway. The river is surrounded
by beautiful nature, and is the ultimate river for dry fly
fishing.
Half week package - NOK 5500,- per
person.
Minimum 4 persons, maximum 9. If there are
more than 5 guests, the group will be divided
between 2 guides. Includes 14 hours guiding/instruction and
lodging for 3 days and nights +
sheets and end cleaning.
Day 1:
Arrival at Hemsedal and Grøthe Gård. Fishing on your own.
Information meeting
at 20:00.
Day 2: Getting acquainted,
looking at flies, opportunity to tie some flies. Inspection of
the
equipment to check that everything that's needed is where it
should be. Skill levels are
evaluated to decide where to fish. Fly casting instruction, and
the opportunity to fish with a
guide, which is given priority if the fly casting skills are
sufficient.
Day 3: Fishing with guide,
otherwise same program as day 2.
Day 4: Departure from Grøthe
gård.
Fishing license not included in the
prices.
NB! Guests
arriving on Sunday will stay 4 nights, while guests arriving
Thursday will stay 3
nights. If there are more than 5 guests, 2 guides will be
