The local hiking trail is about 6-7 km, and suitable for all of
us. And we also suggest trips along the roads or ″The Seven
Sisters″ on the other side of the fjord...
The local hiking trail is about 6-7 km. It goes through a varied
terrain like forest, fields and peat-bogs. Up on the highest point
is a fantastic view over the skerries in Helgeland. You can see the
majestic mountains ″Vega″, ″Dønnamannen″ and the ″Syv Søstre″.
There are marked trails all the way up to the top of the
mountains.
The mountains are, from north to south:
Botnkrona (1072 metres above sea level.), Grytfoten (1019),
Skjæringen (1037), Tvillingene (the Twins, 945 and 980),
Kvasstinden (1010) and Breitinden / Stortinden (910).
Thor Bergesen in Sandnessjøen has taken the photo and made
suggestion where to go.
Sandnessjøen Tourist Association has marked trails to each of
the summits so that you can go safely from top to top on your own.
There are books on each summit where you can sign your name. If you
climb all the peaks you are eligible for a special diploma as proof
of your achievement. Registration cards and maps of the trails are
available at Sandnessjøen tourist information centre.
